CKD-Associated Complications: Progress in the Last Half Century

The Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy held its June-July 2018 annual meeting in Kobe, with the theme of chronic kidney disease (CKD) complications. The 15 presentations selected for publication here include discussions of malnutrition-wasting conditions in older dialysis patients: an individualized approach, chronic inflammation and the progression of kidney disease, the current status and future of peritoneal dialysis in Japan, economic issues of chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease, and anemia management considering the pathophysiology of elderly chronic kidney disease patients.
